A great visionary Mr. Shafi UL Hasan (alias Hunne Babu) was well known Social worker, firm believer of secularism and a true Gandhian in approach. In 1971, he established an educational institution for socio-economic and educational
development of the region and specifically named it as 'Bapu College' spreading the message of peace and communal harmony. This college is located in
very rural and backward area of U.P adjoining Indo-Nepal Border.
The College is co-educational institution with majority of students belonging to schedule caste, minority, other backward classes and female students. The College offers Post Graduate level courses in Arts Stream. Now, after its 41 years of existence, the College can boast of thirty fully furnished and well-ventilated rooms, well-equipped laboratories, well-stacked, computerized library, a big fully computerized administrative block, a well-furnished auditorium, a well-furnished Seminar Room with audio-visual facilities and extensive playground of 7.24 acre. As such, the college continues live up the motto given to it by its founding fathers
